CANONICAL HOUSE IN CORTE S.ANDREA (LO) - Work in progress

It is a pilot “green-restoration” project, on which a standard of evaluation of bio-compatibility performance in historical buildings is being setting up.
First, there is an intervention on windows; we introduce new wooden doubled glazed windows in the internal side of the walls, while the historical wooden ones are preserved and maintained in the external side. We thus obtain an improvement in the performance of this construction component, preserving an historical element.
Second, there in an intervention on plasters; we experiment new plasters, compatible with the historical building mortars, by using hidraulic lime, combining it with other biological materials, able to increase its insulating capacity, such as straw, dry grass, dry flowers, wood waste.
These materials are mixed before the installation in work, to make a series of layers compatible with the substrate.
Third, there is an intervention on the wooden roof; the parts in a good condition are maintained, the others are replaced, with a new layer of insulating panels.
Fourth, ther is an intervention on the heating system; the need to create a dehumidifying crawl space lets to introduce a radial panel winter heating system.
